Blink and you’ll miss it!

Isn’t the British summer just totally depressing? I’m beginning to think we’ll never see a summer again, having been cheated out of one for the last 3 years.

Back in April, I read the Met Office seasonal forecast with glee, in anticipation of soaring temperatures, and long hot days. And here we are, entering a third week of downpours, and below average temperatures. And yesterday I read that this is set to continue well into August.

Yes again, the warm summer days we have be longing for all winter have passed us by and what should have been a sun tan is rust. It makes a mockery of all this “climate change” talk, where we are warned of hotter summers and milder winters. Where are they all? I haven’t seen one.

Mind you, I did jinx it a few weeks ago by going out and buying myself some new sunglasses. Do you think if I went out and bought an umbrella, that might have the opposite effect? I sure hope so!

Ok wallet worms, summer is around the corner, which means Mistress Cristal needs to sort out her summer wardrobe.

It also means that it’s time for you to get your wallets out and start spending.

I want to look gorgeous and sexy this year, and YOU will be paying for it. I want orders in TODAY, so I can start receiving the things I want in the next couple of weeks. I don’t want excuses. I just want orders, so start buying!

Spring has sprung!

Isn’t it funny how the weather can have an amazing effect on your mood?  Today has been absolutely beautiful! Warm, sunny, gentle breeze, the smell of the soil warming up. It’s so calming and energising.

I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder and am not at my best during the dark, winter months. I find that from October until March, I prefer to hibernate as my mood reaches an all time low.

But today, seeing the nicest day we’ve had since last year, I felt so energetic and happy.

You find though, when the weather is like that, you can almost taste the promise of spring and eventually summer. It feels like a huge relief after what has been a very long winter, especially since we didn’t really get a summer last year.

I’m now like a kid at Christmas, eager for summer to start. I want to sit on the beach and watch the waves, without having to wrap up warm. I want to wear my skimpy little summer dresses, go to the pub and sit in the beer garden (it’s a lot easier for me with the smoking laws nowadays!) I want to go up on the Downs and take a picnic. Such simple pleasures that make me feel so happy and content.

The sad thing is this good weather probably won’t last. The Brighton Festival is coming up soon, and I’ve never yet attended one where I haven’t been soaked through and wind-swept because of foul weather! As much as I love to go out and visit a few Artists Open Houses, I refuse to walk around the streets of Brighton when it’s pouring with rain and blowing a gale. What’s the fun in that?

You never know, this year I might be lucky. Lets hope we’re lucky with the summer too. It’s about time we had a scorcher!
